Phase 1: Proposal Phase

A Call for proposals is issued once or twice a year by the RMRD SA. A Call will be sent to all the Research Institutes and to all the active researchers on the RMRD SA’s database. Researchers are encouraged to register with us to receive this information.

The submission dates will be displayed on the website in this section. At the moment there is no call out for proposals.

A proposal is a four page document which is will require the applicant to fill in identification details like title and description for the project, which focus area and sub area it falls within, who the researchers will be and funding required.

The relevant form can be printed from the Forms and documents(hyperlink) section. A set of guidelines on how to complete the forms is also available.

All proposals are submitted for consideration by the appropriate Subject Working Group if it is a Cattle & Small stock project and then to the relevant Planning Committee. The Pork Projects are only considered by the Planning Committee.

In some cases you may be asked to make changes to your proposal and in other cases a researcher may be asked to complete a literature study. Otherwise your proposal may be accepted as it stands or it may be rejected. All researchers will be informed of the decision within a week of the Planning Committee meeting. Bear in mind that the Planning Committees have to be very selective given the demands of the Red Meat Industry and a multitude of other factors when prioritising projects.
